Open the report
Open the assessment from Assessments (or the customer's Assessment history).
Under Reports & artifacts, select Open report next to Security assessment report. It opens in a new tab.
Security note
The report opens through a secure, read-only link that expires after 10 minutes, so don't share the address bar URL. To share a report, select Download and send the file, or save it as PDF.
How the report is organized
- Cover: the tenant, who prepared the report, the Microsoft Secure Score and a tally of findings by severity.
- Executive briefing: the short version. Top priorities (up to six Fix now and Improve items), Findings by area and a timeline for sequencing the work.
- Tenant profile: licenses, users, domains and the scope of this assessment.
- Chapters for each area that was assessed (for example Conditional Access, Authentication Methods & MFA, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Intune / Endpoint Manager). Each has an action plan with evidence. Areas that weren't assessed don't appear.
- Reference data: appendices, starting with A. Remediation plan, the complete plan in one place.
Severity labels and the timeline
- Fix nowA significant risk. Close it this week (timeline: Now).
- ImproveA gap against good practice. Schedule it within 30 days (Next 30 days).
- ConsiderGovernance and hygiene to plan within the quarter (This quarter).
- HealthyAlready in good shape. Nothing to do.
- UpgradeA licensing upgrade worth evaluating at your next renewal (At renewal).
Where it matters for a finding, the report names users, admins, devices or apps (for example the accounts not registered for MFA), so the work can be assigned.
Dark mode, contents and PDF
- Dark in the top bar switches the report between light and dark.
- Contents opens the table of contents; the top bar also shows which chapter you're reading.
- PDF opens your browser's print dialog. Choose “Save as PDF” as the printer to create a PDF. The printout always uses the light layout.
Tip
Each assessment is a snapshot. To show progress after remediation, run a new assessment and compare it with the earlier one from the customer’s Assessment history.
